Trouble importing a QuickTime file (exported from Final Cut Pro) into Adobe Premiere CS4 (on a PC)
Dear CreativeCow,
I’m having difficulty importing a QuickTime file into Adobe Premiere CS4. The QuickTime file that I have is a 15 minute film (with both video and audio) which my friend exported from Final Cut Pro on a Mac computer. What I want to do is simply import this file into Adobe Premiere CS4 (on my PC – a Dell Studio XPS 9000 using Windows 7), and continue working on it.
When I try importing the file in to Premiere, I get an error message that says “file format not supported”. However, on the help website, it says that it is supported:
https://help.adobe.com/en_US/PremierePro/4.0/WSf52ca809ac8f6c7135876f961243120b72d-8000.html
At some point, I saw a message saying indicating that there was an issue with the codec — that the codec needed to read the file is not available. How can I determine what codec was used, and what codec is needed by Premiere CS4?
Or, what Codec settings in Final Cut Pro should we set when we export the file from Final Cut Pro, such that the QuickTime file will import successfully into Adobe Premiere CS4?
Or, should we try exporting in another format – and if so, what codecs are readable by CS4 and which if any should be avoided?
I’m not really familiar with codecs and really need help. I appreciate your assistance very much.
Sincerely,
ATS
