  Linking Files after directory change

  Hello,

  I reinstalled my computer, and after copying back my premiere project, it appears exactly as before, but on a different directory.
  (if before it was on c:\project\1 now it is on e:\dir1\project\1)

  Now it appears that I have to link all the hundreds of files which I have placed on the timeline.
  Isn’t there a different way that I can make premiere link the files? the original structure didn’t change – only the directories above.

  First of all never put your project on the c-drive. One major windows crash and all is gone unless you have a back up. Besides it not very good video practice to have everything on the same drive. Premiere on the C drive and the rest on another drive. See manual.
  When you open you project and the files have been moved Premiere asks you to relink them.
  If you have not linked them the first time, go to the project window select all the file in one folder and right mouse clik/link media. Locate files and hit ok.

  Thanks for answering.

  My problem is a little more complicated – since I divided my files into different directories , for example ‘scene1’ ‘scene2’ and so on, but inside the directories the files are numbered in the same way ‘1.jpg’ ‘2.jpg’ and so on.
  To link each file for the hundreds I have will be a very tedious job..

  Is that the only way? After all the structure is all the same, only the drive changed. (I didn’t use drive C:\ actally, I changed it from d:\ to E:\ – a portable drive.

  If u r on cs4 u can direct to one place and eberything in the same folder structure will find itself. Until u hit a difference in folder structure.

  If ur on cs3 or earlier then yes u need to reconnect the lot.

  Otherwise change the drive letter back.
