  Hi guys;

  Does the Keylight plugin for AE work natively in Premier Pro CS4 on a Mac? Or is it only for use in AE?

  Does Premier Pro CS4 come with any great greenscreen keying plugins?

  No, Keylight will no work in Premiere. The only keying plugin that is advertised to work with Premiere is Reg Giant Primatte. It also happens to be one on the best out there.

  But from past experience, the Premiere usability isn’t so great. It is hard to get to key functions simply because Premiere isn’t designed for compositing. Good keying also involves masking which isn’t going to happen in Premiere.

  Best to stick with AE, even if it involves intermediate rendering.

  I think many had hoped for the Serious Magic Ultra keyer to show up in PPro, but as far as I know it surfaced only in Premiere Elements.

  Though, to Vince’s point, Ultra’s major limitation was that it had only basic masking and did not have the ability to layer multiple quadrants of a key with appropriately varied settings for varying edge types, etc.

  With dynamic link, any greenscreen clip on the PPro timeline can be detoured to PPro, keyed, and not rendered until you render the PPro timeline.
