I just upgraded from Premiere Pro 2.0 to Premiere Pro CS4. I opened an existing job in CS4 and none of the .avi clips are moving. I am seeing only a still of first frame of each clip when playing the clip in the viewer or the sequence. Any ideas??? The videos play fine in 2.0 and Windows Media Player….they were downloaded from a server site, not captured if that matters…..
    Thanks!!!!!!!

Can you determine what codec is used in the AVI files? (Properties)

The newer versions of Premiere do not like “odd” codecs. Which would be defined as a codec that doesn’t work with CS3/CS4 (nice bit of circular reasoning, eh?). Your best approach is probably to convert the XVid files to something like a file sequence or uncompressed AVI; I can’t think of a good program offhand, but there are some out there. Search for “video converter software” or similar, you should find something.
