  CS4 Premiere Pro, Video/Audio don’t line up

  I have a recording studio. I do simple videos. Was using Premiere Elements 7. BUT, I think there is an issue using my flip HD files. SO, I bought Premiere Pro CS4 thinking that would solve my problems. Things got more complicate

  My system:

  AMD Athlon 64X duel 3800 2ghz (supports SSe2 instruction set)
  3 gigs of memory
  Windows XP SP3
  Radeon X300 video card
  RME Fireface 800 (using ASIO driver)
  Using CS4 Premiere Pro

  Video cameras: Flip Mino HD

  Issues:

  1) Even after rendering, playback isn’t consistantly smooth. It stutters.

  2) I am not using the camera’s audio. I’m recording good audio on my system while filming so I’m importing. I line up the good audio with the camera audio on the timeline. BUT, when I output the movie, the audio and video don’t line up. This is a similar problem that I have never been able to solve even with Premiere Elements 7.

  So…my main question is:

  What should my output settings be for my movie. What type of movie should I be exporting to. I want to be able to play on my computer, put on a DVD and upload to youtube. The number of settings is overwhelming and I am trying to do simple videos.

  Hey Tim,

  If you’re capturing at 1440X1080 then I would export your HD project as an MPEG2 with the HDTV1080 selected. A 30 second clip is only 68mb’s and it’s a beautiful full HD. I would also set it to progressive as opposed to interlaced.

  As far as the HD stuttering in the project mode, mine does that as well some of time and I have a Super High end computer, it seems to play smoother the more times I play it. I would recommend upping your ram to 4 to 8 gigs if possible.

  Sometimes my overdubs are slightly off after output too, so you may have to tweak them a few times till you get the perfect output. I don’t know why they seem to be perfect in the project and then different after output. The whole CS4 PPro needs several glitches fixed IMO.
