  AE 7 rendering artifacts

  I’m having wierd rendering problems with AE 7 on my PC (XP Pro, GForce 6800, 4GB RAM,Athlon 64 x2).

  Getting tearing video and what looks like static in the frames. This is a straight render, no OpenGL involved. RAM previews are fine.

  Moved the same project to a G5 and no problems. Only the G5 Dual renders slower :(.

  Any ideas what the issue might be?

  A Quad G5 will render faster.
  (sorry, couldn’t resist)

  Your problem sounds lika a codec issue.
  Which codec are you using for ouput? Are you rendering with alpha? Which bit-depth?

  No doubt! The quad is very pricey. I should have put the money into a quad but with the intel desktop macs around the corner I’ll hold off.

  I’m using the animation codec. No alpha just straight RGB. Updated the BIOS and nVidia driver and still the same issue.

  do you have third party quicktime codecs installed? (like blackmagic). Are you using third party plugins?

  At last you could deinstall/reinstall AE. If this doesn’t solve the prob, I give my hat to someone else…

  Thanks Le Coyote for your suggestions.

  No odd codecs or 3rd party stuff installed. This was a fresh installation of Adobes Production Suite.

  Its been suggested that I may have some flakey memory (even though its premium OCZ Platinum), so I’m going to run MemTest overnight and see what that turns up.
