  CS4 aspect ratio issue

  I just switched from CS2 to CS4 and I’m having trouble with what seems to be an aspect ratio problem.

  I’m editing DV PAL widescreen. When I place footage sized 1024×576 pixels (1.0 aspect ratio) onto my timeline, the footage seems to narrow. As if something is wrong with the aspect ratio. Footage and images with these dimensions seem to be ‘squeezed’ by about 2.5% in width.

  Footage sized 720×576, with a 1.4587 aspect ratio, behaves normally.

  As far as I know, 1024×576 pixels are the dimensions of a PAL widescreen image. In CS2, I used to import titles and footage with these dimensions all the time, without a problem.
  I have tons of animations and stills with these dimensions I need to edit in a PAL widescreen project.
  Obviously, I don’t want to simply ‘stretch’ them by adjusting the width.

  Am I missing something?
  Help would be much appreciated.

  Right click on the footage in your project and choose interpret, then make sure that it is set to square.

  Thanks, yes it’s the first thing I checked. Doesn’t seem to be the issue.

  CS4 adopted a new aspect ratio that supposedly meant that pal was always incorrect in a 16×9 interpret so cs2 is correct for cs2 cs4 square pixel is not 1024×576 it’s now 1050×576. This was pressured in by the almighty BBC in England to correct the technical aspect ratio to accomodate true pal tv. Blah blah it’S such a pain but you’re aren’t going crazy.

  To see people, The subject is so: The proportion 16:9 for the format PAL is, Jon barrie as well clarifies, Whenever you use 1050×576 square pixels. If you look exactly the same if you use to compose your graf in Photoshop format with 720×576 pixels provides 1,4587, That if you use a composition of 1050×576 with square pixels and the reason is very simple, The proportion of pixels 1,4587 only means that the width of your screen will be 1,4587 times as high, Regardless of the size of your TV or projection. If you multiply 720 pixel square for 1,4587 will get an approximation result to 1050 (1050,264 exactly) so that this issue is explained Las proportions. You can see in Photoshop which are included a series of templates Standares formats, In photography and video you will have resolved the issue using the proper proportion to your project. If you use template with 720×576 pixels 1,4587 and immediately with your project adapatra premiere CS4.
