Activity Forums Adobe Premiere Pro Looking for video effects

    Hello everyone:

I’m relatively new to Adobe Premiere CS4 (although I have some experience working with digital video). I seemed to have mustered the controls for Premiere itself but what seems to be lacking in my understanding is how to create certain visual effects with it. I’m looking to create a video clip with effects like in this particular video: (Sorry for the link but it’s much more easy to show it.)

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ePDR3Pza1_g

What I’m looking for is this:

    1. The way they have the Id logo expand, shrink and distort in the very beginning.

    2. The “broken TV reception”, or “TV-snow” effect. Also the effect how they have the picture twitch at some points.

    3. The way they implemented titles in the beginning — “The Union Aerospace Corporation is the largest …”

I’m not looking for a free solution in particular, so if someone knows some third-party plug-in, or something I can integrate into Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, I’d greatly appreciate it.

I’m not sure if it’s Premiere or After Effects, either. So I apologize if I posted it in a wrong forum.

    Thank you in advance.

While you may need After Effects for a couple of them, no plugins will do any of this on their own, just long patient work.

Explaining in detail would make quite a long post but I’ll try to condense.

[Dennis Babkin] “1. The way they have the Id logo expand, shrink and distort in the very beginning.”

Logo size can be keyframed using the motion settings in your effects control panel. The fade in and out include a keyframed horizontal blur, which can also be done in Premiere. The light glow around the logo can be done in After Effects using the box blur effect, or a third party plugin called Shine.

[Dennis Babkin] “2. The “broken TV reception”, or “TV-snow” effect. Also the effect how they have the picture twitch at some points.”

The bad TV reception can probably be done with a third party plugin like Boris , although it would be more realistic to use a the real thing.

Record a static channel on your TV either from the output or using a camcorder and use that, again doing quick keyframing on the opacity.

[Dennis Babkin] “3. The way they implemented titles in the beginning — “The Union Aerospace Corporation is the largest …””

Again, a job for after Effects using masks to reveal the text and a cube keyframed on top of it.

Vince, thanks a lot. I’ll follow your advice.

One thing though (it may be off subject here in this thread), but do you know how to synthesize a (female) computer voice like that?

The female voice (near the start) sounds like a normal voice mixed with standard (according to the film world!) computer noises.
But, I suspect the voice was also treated to voice processing software, such as the kind at https://www.antarestech.com (where I believe you can download free time limited versions).
