  BPAV file missing (?)

  I shoot on a JVC 700, this records with a XDCAM EX codec.
  Am using CS4 to edit. It says to bring the BPAV folder in to edit.
  The only folder showing up is a CQAV.

  The media does not play back correctly. Every piece needs to be rendered before I can even do proper editing.

  Any ideas?

  Hi,

  I’ve shot with a Sony EX1, Premiere Pro likes to import XDCAM EX files by importing the containing BPAV folder so it can use the addidtional metadata files to playback the mp4 files smoothly, I’ve found. Try renaming the CQAV folder to BPAV and see if this helps.

  I renamed the folder and it still seems to be missing some data.
  When I import the file it does not play back correctly (jumpy, glitchy audio).
  The timeline gives me a yellow needs-to-be-rendered bar.
  Needless to say, makes editing VERY time consuming.

  P.S. This is the ‘File Import Failure’ error I got:
  The importer reported a generic error.

  If you import the entire BPAV folder using ‘Import Folder’ on the file dialog it’ll complain about import errors on the non-media files, but I’ve found that the mp4 files play back more smoothly.
