Compaq Evo D500 P4 1.8 Ghz, 1.25 gb RAM, 500 GB HD Partitioned (C:40gb/ F:460gb) using PV-GS180 camcorder via generic pci firewire card.

I’m using Premiere 6.5 (I like the functions better than the newer versions). All has been perfect for a long time until my last video project (its been a few months) . I noticed that when i booted up premiere that there was an online “component update” being downloaded. After that anything and everything went wrong. premiere would freeze on startup or if it did open it would freeze when i opened the capture window. if the capture window opened it would drop frames like crazy during capture (yes i disabled my wireless adapter during capture, absolutely nothing non-essential runs when i capture). Tried reformatting ect…to no avail.

I decided to reinstall the program. this time i disabled the wireless before i booted the program to make sure there were no updates. worked like a dream. once in awhile , when im tired and forget to disable the wireless i get that stupid update and the trouble starts again and i have to reinstall premiere.

what stupidity is this update…been using 6.5 for 3 years and they update it now???

Sounds like you got a virus in your system, I use 6.5 on a older system and never had what you are describing.
