    Hi All…

I’ve done several system rebuilds of Adobe CS3 Prod Premium w/ Matrox RT/X2 on XP.

Upon initial rebuild switch between apps flies…

However over time (a few months) Premiere seems to develop a lag when switching back to it after using any other application even on fresh projects.

My guess is that this has something to do with the Page file Setup in Windows and maybe that disk framgmentation might be the culprit.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to best practices to minimize or avoid this as far as system maintenance is concerned?

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Hi, Alex,

Yes, I think what you are seeing is XP running out of memory and kicking over to the paging files. That’s a nice thing about 64-bit Vista/CS4 with 8 GB of RAM – my current RTX2 setup. That issue is gone, along with other low memory issues that were problematic in CS3.

    Hi Eric…

Yep…I think we are on the same page (heh, heh).

The thing is, why is it not a big deal on a clean build…and it is a big deal on a system that has some miles on it?

Should I perhaps put the page file on it’s own physical volume that I could reformat every so often?

I would love to move to CS4…but based on Matrox and Adobe working some things out….I’m still likely to stick on CS3 for a while.

Could it have something to do with anti-virus software? I’d try disabling any anti-virus and see if that helps.
