  • Media Encoder not working anymore – crashing PP when trying to open it.

Posted by Francois Moutou on May 27, 2009 at 8:20 am

This monday, I moved floors at the office, I encountered several problems with Adobe PP & AE CS3.

They’ve been running smoothly until now… and the only thing maintenance people did was to unplug the comp and bring it up one floor! I cannot imagine it has to do with that.

When in a PP project, whenever I want to export a footage using Adobe Media Encoder, PP freezes while still officially running in the windows task manager.

Weird thing is that, I encounter a similar problem in AE… when I put a footage in the render queue, I cannot access format option for any format but QT. It freezes the same way PP does when trying to access the Media Encoder!

Never happened to me before. I tried to reboot, but it doesn’t do any good. Any suggestions on what might have gone wrong with those Adobe softwares?

So i am responding to myself, it could help other people with the same project.

It is not a software problem, it is just that the window opens outside the monitor! That’s why the soft are still running. So, you just have to open media encoder (or format option in AE), then press alt+space bar and choose “move” (or whatever it is in english) and go in the appropriate direction using the keyboard arrows.

Saw the answer on the great forum repaire.net (for those who speak French)

ANYone know of this problem, everything else has worked fine and this worked once so I can only think an update or other software has caused this problem. let me know help i need to create a bunch of FLV files.

sorry, never got that kind of problem, but I would go for flash update.

did it used to work and now it doesn’t? or did you never used that feature before?

David, were you ever able to figure out this problem? Im having the same issue when trying export flash video from PP CS3

“OMP abort: Initializing libguide.lib, but found libguide40.dll already
initialized. This can cause performance degradation.
Set enviroment variable KMP_DUPLICATE_LIB_OK=TRUE if you want your program to
    continue in this case”

    best
