I really, really hope that someone can help with this problem.

I’ve used Premiere Pro CS 2.0 on the PC for a couple of years. I’ve captured hours and hours of tape shot on Sony PD-170s in DV and DVCAM mode…and tons of footage shot on a Canon XH-A1 in SD. I’ve NEVER had one audio/video synch issue. All captured either from the camera or from a Sony deck over firewire.

I tried some HDV footage in CS 2.0, and I had synch issues. I fixed this by using HDV split.

Now, I have Premiere Pro CS 4 and I’m working on a MAC. Dual-quad 2.8 ghz, 1TB western digital SATA drive, 10 gigs of ram. Great system.

I now have synch issues with both SD and HDV footage. I’ve tried 3 cameras, different cables, and about everything else I can think of. This is happening on my laptop, too. It has happened with a mix of tape stock. It has happened on short captures (6 minutes or so) and on full-hour captures. I’ve used a completely clean drive, repaired permissions, etc…I had synch issues in CS3 on the Mac as well, come to think of it.

Sometimes I can recapture the footage, and all is well. Sometimes that doesn’t work. The only consistent thing I’ve found is that the footage is typically out of synch by 6-7 frames.

From digging around the ‘net…it appears I’m not the only one having this problem.

I really, really don’t want to go back to Final Cut Pro. However, if I can’t get an answer to this question, then that’s what I’ll have to do.

    VERY FRUSTRATING!
