  Codec Question

  Hi, This might sound like a noobish question, but i think fundamentals are important.

  Shooting in HD. 1920, 1080 and starting out with .mfx.

  What format should i export out mfx on cs3 media encoder or other encoder to a codec that:

  -still retains most of the quality
  -decent file size
  -great color information
  -does’t give mainly Premiere Pro and After Effectsc s3 issues(so a very editble codec)

  If you want all 3, you’ll have to stick with uncompressed, either Quicktime animation, or MS AVI with compression set to none.

  If you are really short on space or have really bad performance issues you could try QT photoJpeg, or even H.264, but the last one is a pain because of gamma correction issues.

  What format are you using?

  In the case of both XDcamHD on optical disk and P2 media, PPro has settings to edit these natively of course…
