  Problem with Premiere CS4

  Gentlemen:
  Here’s my problem.
  I am running a Windows Vista 32-bit OS HP Pavilion dv6700 Notebook PC with an Intel Core 2 Duo, and 3G RAM and have just installed the Adobe CS4 Master Collection. All of the programs are running great with the exception of Premiere. Here’s what’s happening.

  I am able to start and open project files with no problems. I am able to import elements with no problem and they appear normal. I am able to bring images and video onto the timeline, but when I view them in the Preview panel, the color is off – Everything has a pink tone to it and is blurry. I am also not able to view anything in the Source panel and when I try to, Premiere crashes.

  I have downloaded the 4.0.1 update and with no better results.
  What could be the problem – please help – I’m being forced to go back to version 6.5 on my Mac to do this project.

  This sounds like a video driver issue, but it’s difficult to know for sure, since you say it doesn’t happen in any other video editing software on your machine.

  All I can suggest are these troubleshooting tips.

  This is the only video software I have installed on this machine. The other programs I was referring to are the other programs that came with the Adobe Master Collection (PhotoShop, Illustrator, In Design, etc.)

  This is also my first Windows OS. I have been a MAC girl since 1987. I’m not converting, just expanding!

  How do I find the video driver information on the Vista machine?

  Windows Movie Maker comes with the OS, so that would be a great test.

  To see your driver settings look up “Device Manager” in the Windows Help for instructions. You will be able to check the driver version number that you see there with the version number of the driver obtainable from the manufacturer’s Web site.

  I have viewed individual movie elements in Windows media and they work just fine. It is only when I import them into CS4 that I experience a problem and subsequent crash.

  I will look at the video driver issue and see if that resolves the problem. I’ll keep you posted – Thanks.

  I just wanted to let you know that I downloaded the updated driver for my Intel Video Card and Premiere is working like a charm.

  Thank you so much for your help…I really appreciate it and am so excited that I get to complete this project as promised!

  Premiere CS4 crashed relentlessly.

  Found this thread, updated nvidia GeForce 6600 GT driver – worked like a charm.
