  clip works half way

  I got a video clip from a friend and it’s an .avi file. PP 1.5 told me it was an unsupported format so I downloaded a free format converter and tried a few different codecs. It’s now xvid. It plays fine in the left monitor as a clip in the bin, but when I drag the clip to the timeline it’s black with no audio. Anyone have any idea what’s going on here? Thanks!

  Unfortunately Premiere does not like xvid at all.
  Try and convert to dv-avi.
