I’m pretty new to all this, so please forgive me if my questions seem a little odd. I’m using Premiere Pro CS4 on a MacPro. When I capture DV video using the Quicktime setting, and DV/NTSC compression setting, the video looks too compressed (a bit jagged).

Possibly unrelated, but the video only appears “jagged” when I play it. When I press stop, the frame sharpens and looks great. I have included pictures to TRY to illustrate this, I hope it shows. Picture 1 is while stopped. Picture 2 is while playing. Pic 1: https://i42.tinypic.com/j673tc.png Pic 2: https://i39.tinypic.com/dqlmwp.png

So I changed the compression setting to none. The video quality improves, but the audio and video don’t sync. Should I be using a different setting?

On a semi-related note, it is generally an issue for me to even change the capture settings. When I try to change the video/audio settings, it will not open the new window, and then the program will crash. This is happening about 90% of the time. Otherwise the software runs great. I’ve been using CS3 on a PC at home, so I’m a little familiar with it. Anyone else have this problem?

    Thank you!

Assuming that you are talking about it looking jagged while playing in the time line and not after you have exported it; this is a normal occurrence (for me at least). It usually happens if you are not viewing the video at a 100% in the window. You have your video at fit, fitting it to the window can sometimes give you that jagged look. Also interlacing can sometimes cause the same effect. When you export your video (and deinterlace it) it should be completely normal.
