    It’s easy enough to drag and drop a copy of a transition into a custom bin, but then how do I edit the preset so that it has a custom frames in/out value, etc.

    I can make the copy, but it’s just a copy. There’s lots of info about effect presets, but I’d like to be able to make some transition presets so that I don’t have to edit every single transition I apply.

    Unfortunately (at least in CS3), you can’t. That’s one of my gripes too, but you can’t create modified transition presets the same way you can with effects. You can change the default length of the transitions for both video and audio, but that effects all of them. Fortunately (or unfortunately), Premiere’s transitions have almost no settings, so it’s not like you have to spend 5 minutes reprogramming each one… but then again, if you have a lot of them you have to work with, it adds up.

    Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I was hoping they had added something like this in CS4, but I guess not.
