CS4 won’t export to tape w/ ADVC-100
Arg I hate CS4 (I can capture ok, but can’t export)
I boot up 64bit Vista
Open PPro4 (cs4 production bundle)
select sequence
go to File > Export and “export to tape” is grey (grayed out)
I go to edit> preferences > device control. I re-SET (AGAIN)-every time I start computer/Premiere I have to set it) and set Canopus & Advc-100
click ok- go back to File> export > export to tape is NO longer grayed out.
I go to export now and hit “record” and I get nothing coming out through the Canopus. (I do have the ‘program’ window playing the video with audio coming out of computer speakers. (Not the exporting to tape graphic message I got in CS2)
Soooo Adobe crappy “help” tells me to go to Edit > preferences > “playback settings”. well I go to “player settings” (No playBACK only playER and the only drop down option is “Adobe Player”
The Adobe ‘help’ section titled “prepare for exporting to DV videotape” says I should see a DV 29.97i (720×480) as an option.
Anyone want to clue me in what I am doing wrong???????????/FYI Windows only sees the ADVC-100 as a DV device.(If that means anything)
I saw a suggestion (from a search) to disable Windows Aero (I do a Windows help search and did a search for ‘disable aero’ AND ‘Aero’ and windows ‘help’ search finds nothing. NOTHING!!??? Hey Microsoft- it’s your stinking word not mine. WTF.so that is where I am at.

I figured it out… no thanks to Adobe “HELP” (oxymoron)
I found a drop down in the ‘program’ window that says “playback settings” and found the DV 29.97i. volia, it outputs.

Um…that’s been there since CS3 at least (I don’t have CS2 installed on anything anymore so I can’t check it.)
…and after I typed “export to DV” in Adobe crappy help, it brought me this page:

It’s not a crime to need some assistance, but this doesn’t seem all THAT illogcal.

Hi, Tim… The link to the “step-by-step” is no longer there. Can you send me a copy so I can double check my settings?
I want to record the program through the advc 110 to a Panasonic DVD recorder that takes audio and video in through RCAs in real time. As a first step, I am trying to get the AV through the 110 to a monitor. I can get an image from Premiere Pro through the firewire cable to my camera, so I know that the video has the potential of being recorded and the Premiere Pro settings might be right. It will not play through this cable, tho, just the still image appears, and the recording failed.
Bottom line is that I cannot get even a still frame from the computer through the 110 to the monitor. I can get color bars through the 110 to the monitor. I’m thinkin’ that if I can get the color bars through to the monitor and a still frame through the firewire to the camera, I should be able to get at least a still image from the computer to the monitor.
I’ve switched the analog/digital switch, checked the switches on the bottom of the 110. The 110 is detected by the Mac.
I don’t know what else to do. Help me Rhonda!

There really are only a couple settings you need to be concerned with…
First, are you in a DV project?
Then, in playback settings on the bottom of the program panel, select “DV 29.97” or DV 25fps as appropriate…I know when I’m editing, I have the video overlay routed to one of my computer displays…I would have to switch it back to the DV setting to get it to output to FireWire.
The program settings thing is what seems to be a bit off the path for most people.
