what to do after capturing footage as DV?
OK, I have tons of tapes I am capturing as DV files utilizing a program called WinDV 1.2.3. This program seems to work the best for capturing a full tape even with breaks in between scenes. I have tried using Premiere Pro to do the capturing, but it seems to freeze up my pc.
Anyways, so I capture this typically 2 hour vhs tapes as a DV AVI file. What I now want to do is “cut the swill” out of the footage. Take out all the stuff I do not want. I am not doing full on editing to these clips…yet, I just want to take the junk out I do not need to free up space etc and use that finished file at a later date to edit, put on dvd, etc.
My question is, what do I export the file as out of Premiere Pro once I trim the fat of the file. Is it safe to just save out as DV again, or will that degrade the quality?
