  HDV mv2 files always get re-indexed on load

  Ok, I have 18 or so 7-10GB m2v files (1440×1080-29.97p) in a project, the project file itself is only around 1-2MB. When I load the project it walks over each file and reads it in again (to index I assume) this causes a 2-3+ hour delay on opening the project. Ive relocated the media cache and had it repopulate the mpegindexs and database entries but it still insists on reading them all again every time I load or encode. I know this isn’t a hardware issue but as I’m sure someone will insist it is:

  3.166GHZ intel core 2 duo
  8GB DDR3 1600mhz RAM
  2x80GB drives in raid 0 (os) – over 100GB free recently defragmented
  2x1TB drives in raid 0 (footage) – over 400GB free recently defragmented
  windows vista ultimate x64

  Any help is greatly appreciated.

  I have 2 1hr m2v video files that I imported into a PP3 project that takes a long time to load also – and I am wondering if it could be my project settings – or if this is what I should expect with PP3. I haven’t work with PP3 that much – so I am very much in the learning stage.

  Properties show the video files as a IPBb mpeg-2 MP@H-14, 25 mbits/s, 16×9, 1440×1080, 24 bits/pixel, 29.97 fps.

  My project settings are hdv1080i.

  I am wondering if I need to customize my project settings.

  The project takes about 20 minutes to load – and sometimes I get the “program is not responding”.

  I have a dual core x7900 extreme 2.8 lintel chip on a pc with 4 gigs mem with XP.

  Is this slow project startup normal for M2V files and a 1080i project – or are there some things I can do to speed it up.
