  Unlinked Media

  Friends: I am editing a 5-minute short on CS2.

  Shot my footage on a JVC HD camera and converted the .tod files to .avi using MPEG Streamclip. They imported into Premier nicely and I edited for about a month.

  Then one day, all my footage was replaced by the “media offline” screen. When I right-click the footage in the bin and click Link Media, I select the appropriate file and get the following message:

  “The selected file cannot be linked because its type (video) does not match the original file’s type (audio and video).”

  I’m running 64-bit Vista.

  Here is answer I found on another thread:

  I have had this same issue, and here is the only cure I have found (with help from Adobe tech support) other than going back to CS2.

  Re-import your source clips that are currently showing “offline” (perhaps to a different folder). Reimported clips should come in “online” without issue, but of course, they are not on the timeline.

  For each clip showing “offline” on the timeline, load the reimported source clip into the source viewer. Right click on the clip on the timeline, and select “Replace with Clip from Source Monitor – Match Frame”. Timeline clip should now be online. Rinse and repeat for your other offline clips.

  Eternity…don’t miss it for the world.
