I made some avi files from existing mpg files for import into cs4. When I bring in the avi’s the audio plays at normal speed while the video plays back at at least twice normal speed. Everything plays fine in vlc. What could cause this problem? Thanks.

[Jake Williams] “What could cause this problem?”

    Probably the codec used.

Convert one of the MPEG files to a DV AVI Type 2 file and test that.

    Cheers

Hi Eddie, Thanks for the reply. I gave your suggestion a try and have the same problem. I tried apple jpeg, animation and dvntsc in mpeg streamclip. Is there a codec that you could suggest? Thanks again.

Dude! I am having the EXACT same problem. In fact, I was trying to edit the mpeg as I have done in CS2 in the past on my newly upgraded system and I am getting weird artifacts in my video as well as these annoying little glitches that look like focus shifts. No sweat, I’ll just convert to avi…wrong! It is speeding up the video and the audio appears to be fine. I have done just about everything I can think to do and now it has come to this. I will be anxiously awaiting a reply!

I have never heard of PPro having trouble with a DV file.

Please provide these details to help us help you.

    Hi Eddie,

Thanks for the link. Converting my original mpg to mpg with mp2 audio worked and the file imported into ppro perfectly. I appreciate your help. Thanks.

OK, it’s not working for me! The weird part is that I imported the clips into another system that is identical to mine…same thing, imported into my new laptop…same thing, imported into a buddies editor…same thing, imported into my Old, old, pos laptop running ppro 2…WORKS LIKE A CHAMP! I’m at a loss. I have converted in every converter known to man with no luck and it seems that my workaround at least for now is going back to 2.0.

Very interestingly, I just had this happen to me with a DV file this morning, video playing fast, audio at regular speed, it went away after a restart. I guess I may never know..
