I am trying to convert AVCHD files directly into DVCPRO HD files in one step (something that should be an advantage over Final Cut), but I am always getting black frames (about 10% of the image) around my exports … I have tried exporting to a square pixel pro-res as well, and I still get black borders, albiet of a different size.

Part of the problem is that I don’t seem to have any HD presets for export, only SD. Could this be because I installed from the downloaded trial version before inputting my serial number?

EDIT : I should probably mention I’ve already tried updating to 4.0.1

Regarding the black bars, if you ere exporting to SD, this was discussed here, with a video explaination.

Not sure why the HD export options aren’t there, can you tell us more about what you are exporting to ?

    Hi Vince,

    Thanks for the suggestion,

But I’m going from AVCHD 1080i50 to DVCPRO HD 1080i50 … both of which are 1440×1080 stretched to a 1920×1080 raster.

I get the feeling the problem is something to with this sub-raster.

I shoot DVCPro HD, but I never had to convert to it.

One more suggestion, have you tried the Panasonic transcoder ?

    Unfortunately, it’s Windows only.
