Here is my problem. i have been trying to make a project where i take the star wars movies and edit them to get certain clips and then set them up to link with metallica music. I have been able to do that but now when i export the project i can’t seem to get the whole project on one file. There is a file for audio and a seperate one for video. When i tried to then re-import the video back into pro it didn’t like the format and wouldn’t work. i guess there are a couple of questions here: 1. what format should i export so that adobe will recognize it if i import it again? 2. is there a way to link up all of the video clips i have cut with the music and export the whole thing as one audio and video file. The video format i’ve been using is AVI

1st thing. AVI is not a codec its a wrapper, like MOV for Quicktime… anything can be inside it. DV is the most common and probably suit you best. Animation for QT is also very commonly used.
2nd thing. If your hard drives are formatted to FAT32 you are limited to a 4Gig file size anything bigger than that won’t be saved, copied etc.
3rd thing. I am assuming your source footage is either from Youtube or elsewhere. DivX and Xvid are watching/playback formats, not made for editing. You will need to convert anything other than DV should be convertered to be safe. Google converters. there are heaps.

i believe the format is DV and when i look at the properties of each video file it says divx video. In order to get it to just edit on adobe i needed to download the 3ivx codec. It runs fine in the adobe program i just want to be able to play it on vlc for other people
