Cross format Final Cut Pro with Premiere Pro?
I’d appreciate any info on the following; I edit event productions on my Mac, but am most comfortable authoring DVD’s using Adobe Encore. For years now, I’ve gone through the silly process of exporting several hours worth of material to mini-DV videotape from my Mac…then importing from mini-DV into my PC and Premiere Pro. From there, I export the project in Premiere using Canopus Procorder to use it in Encore. I know this is rediculous and takes so much more time than is probably necessary. I’m still using Final Cut Pro version 3 (OSX version 10.3), and Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5.(Windows XP Pro) I know I’m behind the times. The thing is, I’m not a techie, and don’t want to upgrade a “working” system in fear that I’ll mess something up. I can’t afford even a few days of down time with my schedule. I don’t belong to any peer associations or user groups…any help here will be greatly appreciated. I have a little one (child that is) and the extra time will be put to good use!

Cannot you encode your FCP project as Mpeg 2 for DVD, burn that raw file (less than 4 GB) to a dvd and then author that in Encore?
This will involve maybe 30 minutes wasted time and one blank DVD. -
What about using an external harddrive? or getting the network happening with the PC and Mac and having a shared drive from the PC? You can encode it and then send it to the PC and use the encoded file from Compressor in Encore. No copying pasting, copying pasting or wasting DVD materials. It’s not that hard to get a PC shared drive to work with a Mac. It’s a pain going the other way – but it can be done.
