I have a friend with CS3, Matrox RTX2 and a dual DVI ATI 1950 VGA. I set up two monitors for him but when the source and program vierers are dragged to the right-hand monitor (Monitor 2), there is no moving video in the viewers. Drag the viewers back to Monitor 1 and all is well. Output to external reference monitor is okay, it’s just the internal Premiere monitors that won’t work.

I had this problem years ago myself on a Matrox Millenium card where the viewers wouldn’t work on the secondary monitor, but this is got me beat. Any ideas?

    Hey Peter…

This is normal behavior for that config when in Dual View (task bar on one mon, but desktop extended to both)

You can trick it by doing extended view (one task bar across both monitors) but this tended to stretch things a bit awkwardly in my config.

I went with Dual view and set up my viewers in layout on the primary monitor and lived with it.

If you set the other monitor as Primary in the Windows Display Control panel, the overlay follows. But in dual view, you can’t have it on both at the same time. I think it’s an ATI direct X quirk. (as flash videos (don’t use DirectX) or quicktime with DirectX disabled don’t have that problem).

    Hope that helps,
