install CS4 (master collection) without uninstalling CS3 – is it possible?
Posted by Ariel Brener on December 9, 2008 at 12:38 pmHey all – I want to install CS4 Master collection, but I don’t want to uninstall CS3.
Can I just install CS4 along without uninstalling CS3 master collection?
will they clash? The reason is obviously because I still have projects running and I dont want to reinstall CS3 if I experience trouble with CS4.
Did any of you guys try that already?
do you think there will be conflicts?
please tell me!I use Vista Ultimate 64Bit

December 9, 2008 at 1:31 pmMost folks do and think just like you…both suites work fine on the same PC. Finish your existing projects in 3 while tinkering with 4.

December 9, 2008 at 1:39 pmI see what you are saying.
but Im using many plugins as well (Trapcode, Boris continuum , Red giant look suits etc.)
I’m afraid that they wont be compatible with CS4.
Are you sure that everything works the same flawlessly?
Does any of these pluging working on CS4?ADOBE MASTER COLLECTION CS3

Maybe…maybe not. Copy one at a time from Premiere CS3’s plug-in folder into the CS4 plug-in folder and try it.

December 9, 2008 at 2:10 pmI did and haven’t had any conflict except with CC4 itself.
I don’t see the arguments because there are 2 different programs… not an upgrade.
I suggest start CC4 with a small project in the time you get familiarized to work with. Nahh, same dog with different collar. -

December 9, 2008 at 10:59 pmThe problems may lie in the fact that all Adobe apps share common files. On a PC, C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe and some of those folders don’t differentiate between CS3 and CS4.
I certainly wouldn’t upgrade or install side by side while working on a project with a deadline.

December 10, 2008 at 12:30 amya thing is I finished my short term project – and now have a long term project left – (I can spare the time of installing & uninstalling)
I guess question is if to install CS4 with CS3 still on the system or to uninstall CS3 before.

December 10, 2008 at 12:43 amWell, if you are starting a new project I don’t see a problem with getting rid of CS3, it’s not like you are going to need a learning curve.
Just know that you can’t go back and open the project in CS3.

December 10, 2008 at 12:50 amI see what you are saying – CS4 can open CS3 projects but not viseversa.
well I guess I’m going to try to run CS4 along with CS3
If I’ll experiance conflicts Ill uninstall CS3
if CS4 wont be stable and will not support my machine software\hardware
Ill go back 2 CS3٩(̾●̮̮̃̾•̃̾)۶
