CS3 – shooting 480i on HVX 200 – editing DVPRO50- exporting timeline to P2, trying to import P2 into AVid Adrenaline

I am trying to find the best method of exporting my timeline to Avid.
I exported to a P2 card and reimported back into Premiere, no problems.

When I sent the P2 card off to the Avid suite, they get a warning that file cannot be read- after it imports, this error appears in avid – “Audio: Pmm_insufficent_media – player version is longer than actual”

I went over to the Avid suite and was able to load footage the HVX 200 recorded, it is only the P2 file created by Premiere that can’t be read.
    Any thoughts

Interesting. I know the P2 export does work back into the camera, but I have yet to try an Avid import. There may be a flag inserted somewhere by PP that confuses Avid.

I know this will demand a bit more power on the Avid side, but I would just export uncompressed if were you. The P2 file structure is fairly complex as anyone who has ever trying to recover a corrupt drive will tell you…

Thanks, but I think it is my bad and not Avid, because the P2 export does not play in the camera – the thumbnail is there, the time code bar below reads 00:00:00:00 and there is a little purple box with a “E” – which I assume means error.

But, I can re-import the sequence from the camera back into Premiere.

My project settings is DVCPR50, my rendering is set to DVCPRO50, the master track for audio is set to stereo.

I am going to keep playing. But I would be interested in knowing what export settings you would use when sending out a sequence to avid for further editing.

I am trying to accomplish the same thing, except i’m trying to take 1080i/24pa footage, remove the advance pulldown in premiere, and then rexporting it as p2 to get it into media composer. any settings you think i should know about?

I can’t really help you. I have not succeeded in getting Premiere P2 files to import to Avid, so right now I am exporting the file using the Avid 1x1x codec.

The file export and import are very long compared to native P2. I have a call into Avid and if they ever answer I will let you know
