Question about Bit Depth Support
HI everyone,
I’m trying to understand bit depths in cs3,
I have a few questions regarding it.Firstly I understand that we now have 32 bit float and 16 bit
processing for certain effects, now I understand that the
video in our project gets expanded to 32 bit float for the rendering
of a 32 bit effect, then after the effect has rendered, it then
gets compressed back down to the project bit depth, of either 8 or 10 bit depending on the internal project bit setting.3 Questions below regarding bit depths.
1. If I have a dv project, is this project setting at 8 bit, so no matter what bit depth footage that I bring in, it will be reduced to
8 bits per channel, as the dv project internal bit depth is 8 bits, is this correct?2. Obviously when chosing the Adobe sdi projects and chosing the yuv10bit the internal project is limited to 10 bit?
3. When chosing a custom project, if one choses Desktop as the Editing Mode, what is the internal bit depth of that project, reason
for chosing desktop would be to use a custom resolution, like
a 2k project to assemble a film out edit etc. So what is
the internal bit depth of this type of project limited to, with this
particular project, I’m trying to figure out what happens if I bring
10 bit footage in here, is it getting reduced internally to 8 bit,
or is this editing mode 10 bit internally.I hope this is all clear, if not, I will try again.
Thanks, and any help greatly appreciated.
