“error compiling movie”
I’m working on a pretty big project with hours and hours of footage. Recently at times, when I hit Enter to render the sequence I get a “Error Compiling Movie” msg. And sometime it’ll say Premiere is running low on memory but the HDD I working off of has 60GB left.
I don’t get it and its really slowing me down.Assistant Editor

“Memory” refers to RAM (memory sticks inside the computer), and not to your hard drive size.
That certainely could be the cause of your problems. Do you know how much RAM your computer has ?
CS3, for example, would require between 2 and 4 GB, depending on the complexity of the project and OS used on that machine.

The computer is pretty solid with 2.00GB of RAM and I’m running windows xp. Strange thing is that if I close out premiere and reopen the project it will render fine, for a few hours anyway.

If this is a fairely complex project, 2 Gigs could be on the edge, especially with CS3. Any other opened application will make things worse. And the longer you work, the less memory will be available, that’s unfortunately still a “smaller” issue with Premiere with memory leaks.
You can do a Ctrl-Alt-Delete and look at how much remaining memory you have when this issue happens, that will tell you if you need an upgrade. That same action can actually realease memory as well.
