    Hi,

We’re shooting on Sony EX1 cameras and are capturing the HD output (via HD/SDI) onto Sony XDCAM Decks (PDW-F75). We’re then importing the footage into CS3 (version 3.2.0 – with .MXF support) and doing all of our editing. Everything goes well until that point.

Now, I need to deliver the HD footage to a 3rd party. They need to get the footage onto HDCAM tape (don’t ask why). I need to get the edited HD footage out of CS3 and onto their HDCAM tape….or back onto my XDCAM deck. I can always output from my deck to theirs.

So far, I’ve come up with a couple of possible workflows, but none seem to be the final answer. I’m wondering if any of you might have some insight into this?

I’ve got an AJA XENA LH card in my editing machine and I’ve tried outputting from the XENA card to my deck (in lieu of having an HDCAM deck). Unfortunately, the playback in CS3 chugs on my graphics (even after rendering) so the playback output doesn’t work. I’m not sure why that’s happening, but that’s a different issue.

I’ve also tried the MPEG PRO plug-in from Main Concept. I’m able to get the footage back onto my deck, but the quality seems degraded when I view it on the deck.

Anyway, I need to get this project out and back onto their deck (or even onto mine) with good HD quality? Any ideas? Would print-to-tape work on the XDCAM deck out of CS3?

Thanks in advance for the help. Here are my machine specs:

    Vista Ultimate 64bit
    Premiere Pro CS3 version 3.2.0
    AJA XENA LH Card
Dual Quad Core 2.3 Ghz Xeons
    16 Gb of Memory
3 SAS 15k RPM HDs (1 for OS and 2 in a Raid 0 for data)

Thanks again, and let me know if I didn’t give enough info.

    Brian
