Green and red indicators in timeline
Most of my clips in the timeline show a green indicator bar above them just below the ruler but some do not. When I export the work area as a QT movie and resize to 360×240 these clips resize fine whereas the clips that do not have the green indicator do not resize and stay at the larger size. I end up with a movie that has these fragmented sizes, What are the green indicators and how do I get all the clips to resize properly when I export the movie? Many thanks for you help.

Red indicates that the video may not preview correctly, either because you have added effects OR IN YOUR CASE, the clip’s properties do not match your Project Settings.
Green indicates you have created preview files for those clips and now should preview fine.
Why Premiere created preview files is that those clips maybe are a different resolution? By default “Scale to Frame Size” is turned on (Preferences>General), but it may be turned off for you.
All that said, you should have noticed this when previewing before export.

Mike thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my question.The funny thing though is that the clips with the red and the green indicators export fine. It is the clips without red or green indicators that are the problem – they do not resize. I have read manuals that I have on Premiere Pro 2 and I see not mention of what these indicators are anyway. Almost an oversight. I appreciate your help Mike.

Try scaling the ones without a red or green bar down to 99%. It should not cause a problem and will force a render (green bar).
