30i and 30p mixed footage
Hey all
For an event I have been asked to shoot multicam. This will B my first multi-cam shoot.
Using Premiere Pro 2.0 and Encore DVD.
As for the cams,,, one’s my dvx 100b, the others are a panny 1/6 ” 3ccd and a jvc I don’t know what cheappy cam.
I’m not sure how these will mix so,,, my thoughts are to keep the cheaper JVC way back in the wide establishing shot neighborhood,,, get a lil bit closer with the panny and selectively editing the best footage with as little motion shot to avoid the jagged edges, and finally work the dvx on all critical shots and audio.
REALLY Need your help deciding on how to best handle the footage.
The Ideal would be to produce it all on a 30p timeline and finish it as progressive video DVD.

Honestly, I’m not sure how much your time is worth, but you would be better off renting another DVX. I can’t think that it would be over $200.00.
If you do decide to go with different cams, and only one can handle progressive, you should then shoot all interlaced.

I would go for the 30p timeline. The footage from the little Pana you can deinterlace on the timeline via field options. When deinterlacing via field options Premiere automatically sets for upper field so you also need to reverse the field dominance for those clips.

Thnx Ann,, I like your solution better only because renting is not in the cards at the moment.
