audio trick with GL2/XLR adapter – two sources?
Hi all,
Here’s what I’m trying to accomplish:
I’ll be shooting a one camera wedding ceremony (awful, i know!) and will have a w/l lav reciever and a shotgun mic plugged into a Beachtek XLE adapter on my Canon GL2. With this configuration, I will record vows/preacher with the lav mic on the left channel, and music/ambient sound with the shotgun mic on the right channel.
I’d like to be able to edit each channel separately. I imported some test footage into Premiere Pro and did the following…I copied the audio track and used the “channel volume” effect to turn the left channel down on one track and the right channel down on the other track. The I copied each of these tracks again, and used the “swap channels” effect so that each of my audio sources come out both sides. The result is I have the lav mic in stereo and the shotgun mic in stereo, and I can edit each independently of the other.
This is kind of complicated, so my question becomes: Is there an easier way to do this that I haven’t tried?
