    Hello helpful people,
I just had a crash on CS3 and it turns out the autosave has not been working. It is set to autosave every 10minutes and it usually does, but today for some unknown reason, the autosave hasn’t kicked in. Everything else with my CS3 seems OK, just this rather annoying glitch. The autosave folder is in the correct place, but empty. All settings appear to be correct (and in my defaults which normally work perfectly).

    Any advice welcome, thanks people.

Start over from the point you were after your last save.

Yeah, thanks Harm, I’m on that! 😐

I’m actually wondering why it’s not autosaving, in order for it never to happen to me or anyone else on CCow.

I think that’s a Vista issue (among a few others). Try right clicking and run as administrator when you start Premiere (though I can’t confirm that it’s the problem) it has yet to happen again for me.

Of course, make sure you are looking in the right place. By default, it is in with the project folder, but if you save somewhere else, or open a crashed project, it will be in a sub-folder.

    Hi Andy,
Did you ever find a solution to this problem? I am also having issues with Autosave not saving.
I know that I’m looking at the right autosave files (and yes I’ve tried opening the last saved project!!! lol)

I’ve just moved over from the Matrox RT.X100 to the RT.X2 and am finding a whole host of issues that I’ve never come across before.

    I’m running the following:
    Premiere CS3
    Asus P5E Deluxe
    Intel Core2 Quad @2.5Ghz
    4gb RAM
Windows Xp Pro Version 2002 w/service pack 3.0
    Matrox RT.X2 w/Xtools 3.6

Any advice would be appreciated as I’ve got a habit of getting lost in my work and not saving a copy for hours on end!!
    Thanks

Sorry Jamie, I never found out exactly what was wrong.
The most likely culprit was the fact that I had lots of embedded projects within my main project – that certainly caused me other problems at the time. Thankfully the problem seems to have gone away with the end of that particular project, I just hope it stays away.

Good luck with getting to the bottom of your issues, sorry I can’t be more help.

Thanks for taking the time to come back to me Andy.
I still haven’t found out the reason for this problem although I have discovered a workaround.
I’ve simply upped the number of autosave files to 50 and it seems to be working (fingers crossed). Must be an issue with overwriting the existing autosave files.
We live and learn eh!!? 🙂
