    Hello,

I am working on a project where subclips come in very handy. When I try to play back the subclips I’ve made they either:

    A. Don’t start playing until 5 or 6 seconds after I hit the spacebar.

    B. Cause Premiere Pro 2.0 to crash.

This can’t be a ‘speed of the computer’ issue. I’m running AMD Dual Core Processors with 4.0 GB of RAM.

Any guesses as to what’s going on?

No guesses needed. The subclips from long clips take a long time because there was a mistake in the software code. They fixed in in CS3.

Big mistake, but since CS3 has it fixed, it is too late to complain about it to any real effect.

If a customer pays a lot of money for a professional software like PP or an Adobe suite, and it has a serious (even if it’s not critical) code error, isn’t he entitled to expect some sort of fix for it, without being forced to pay for an expensive upgrade which he can’t necessarily afford?
I mean, even microsoft still addresses win XP problems with updates despite the aggressive pitch it’s making for vista…

Most software companies do not go back and fix older revisions of their software once newer versions have been released.

What you may deserve, and what you should expect are not necessarily the same.

There are so many reasons to upgrade due to features, the fact that the software fixes bugs as well is just the way it is.
