  • Preview window went from fine to pixelated

Posted by Kevin Mason on June 12, 2008 at 5:06 am

I am using PP CS3 now and have been working on a project for about a week. I just decided to uninstall Premiere Pro 1.0 to save space (because I did not do so prior to installing CS3). After the uninstall the preview window is now all pixelated when previously it had very accurately reflected the source footage.

    Help would be apprecciated.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

Might just be that your record monitor is set to “automatic quality” – look at the bottom of the viewer and click on the button with the three circles (red, green, blue) and at the bottom of the drop down menu, there are options for preview quality. You can set it to highest. I leave it on automatic, because it adapts to when my system is running low on resources. It does not reflect the quality of the final render and is really only for preview purposes.

Thanks for the response. I actually discovered the problem (2nd time in as many days I’ve found solutions, perhaps I shouldn’t post so readily?)

The video rendering tab of the project setting window reverted back to cinepak compression for preview files, whereas it was at uncompressed before. Why I did not think to look there before is beyond me.

    Thanks,
    Kevin
