updating 1.5 to CS3 – mpeg and avi?
I’m hoping someone can help. I’m a high school teacher who had just got my head around most of 1.5 when the ICT dept updated the PC’s and the software to CS3. The students had already started to create their projects in 1.5. The footage off the Sony HDR-HC9 HDV cameras was capturing fine into AVI files.
With the new PC’s and CS3 they were able to open up their projects, double clicking on sequence with everything appearing on the timeline no problem.
The problem has come with them capturing new footage (with their older footage) straight into CS3. It is capturing in mpeg. This comes up in italics in the bin with the green media pending when they try to view it with their avi files.
How can I capture in AVI again?
Some groups have opened completely new projects in CS3 and it is capturing in mpeg and playing fine. It only causes problems when captured in the older projects with the AVI.
Any advice would be really appreciated. ICT has given us this new software and hardware without telling how it works.

The new video apparently was shot in HDV. You can change a menu setting in the camera to Downconvert to DV, then capture AVI files in a SD project via firewire.
