    Hey folks.. Im on Windows…

So I was pointed to a program called VLC.. about the best thing I can convert these HDV quicktimes that where
orginally cut from FCP is Windows Media files..

They look good .. but I was surprised the file size was so small.. and it made me wonder.. are these
    good for using in AE??

Almost seems to good to be true.

    Thanks for any input..

Well, wma files should work in AE. But that would raise issues about quality, especially when you will have to recompress again after, depending on your final media. But why convert them and not use the originals in AE ?

In general, small size wma files are only good for the web as far as quality after compression. (Some will say not even that 😉

    Cheers,

    Vince

I agree, it’s just that I got these quicktimes and I can’t play them.. evidently there are less
built in codecs for quicktime on windows than macs… I can’t find an HDV codec
but this VLC media player will play them and convert them to WMA’s

    Such a headache…

interesting, thanks for that advice.. I’ll see if I can get the editors to do this for me..
As of now they where able to spit an image sequence for me… for some reason everything
became dark so I had to adjust the levels to get them back to snuff..

Thanks for the replay.. this is great info!
