  video appears black but the sound is there

  I just bought Adobe Premiere Pro CS3. I imported a video, however the video appears black. I can hear the audio for the clip, but cannot see the video itself. What should I do?

  If the video plays fine in Windows Media Player, your video codec is not supported by Premiere Pro. There are many apps to convert the codec (loss of quality) or Premiere Elements can probably edit it. Download GSpot (free) to see what the video codec is first.

  I’m having the same problem but the video plays in my preview window but not my project window. I’ve tried a few different codecs but the same result.
