ok so i have my project nice and completed in premier. however, when i export it and watch it in somthing like quicktime/windowsmedia the aspect ratio is all out. its like the 16:9 ratio has been completely squashed into 1:1

however…when i open in VLC i can manually adjust the aspect ratio.

BUT, i really need the flexibility of a file that is 100% what i want so i can for example easily import it onto my ipod and what not.

so yeah! can anyone help me with exporting into the native ratio, for 100% of the time?

also on another note, what is the best filetype size wise to export to, i’ve seen feature length movies that are 700mb and are dvd quality….but my 4minute project is like 900!

Your 16:9 movies are being anamorphically re-ARC’ed (aspect
ratio conversion) to 4:3. Have a look at your pixel aspect
ratio setting. For 16:9 PAL export it should read ‘1.422’. For
    4:3 it’s ‘1.067’. NTSC is ‘0.900’ 4:3 and ‘1.200’ 16:9.

Next time you open a new project have a little read of Description
    boxes first.

yeah mate, understood all that. my problem is the actual exporting, i dont know how to make sure the export (maybe i need to choose particular settings somwhere) stays in the 16:9 ratio rather than falling into the 4:3 or 1:1 wahtever it is. so that when i open in quicktime or winmedia it comes up looking just like it did in premier.

all the editing was done in 16:9 sd pal so far as the premier stuff is concerned. the funny thing is that whenever i export to encore it somehow compensates for that weird ratio output and makes sure it stays in 16:9.

    ??????????

Are you exporting as ‘Export/Movie/AVI’ or via Adobe
    Media Encoder?
