Edit WITHOUT converting file types?! Is it possible?!
I’ve made a number of videos on my snapshop camera that I would like to be able to edit in Adobe Premiere.
My biggest problem is that it wants to CONVERT the mpeg files to another format for editing and then convert them once again in order for me to post the edited ones online.
Is there ANY way to edit the videos WITHOUT doing any conversions and leave the file size, frame rate, resolution, file type, settings the same?!

Yes, get the correct source material for editing. The material you use is obviously not suited for editing or does not conform to standards.

Digital Photo camera’s video clips are not an ‘editable’ codec. They aren’t made to be edited. If so you would have gotten editing software with the camera. If you did use that.
You can try to setup a custom desktop based project with the same codec as used by the camera but you would need to make it based on the clips properties, can see it in windows media player and quicktime. I’m guessing they open in QT and are either mp4 or 3gp files.
If you convert them to an editable format you won’t have issues.
But you will have to export them either way to the one you want to use it for? (net, phone – 3gp or mp4)

I have had mixes results with still camera video editing. Some formats are not editable or worth editing, but other work pretty well.
My Panasonic captures as QT Sorenson 3 at 3 kbps (640×480) and that edits nicely.
I am working on a DVD for a family Hawaii vacation that is full resolution Mpeg 1 at 3 kbps. Premiere CS3 choked on about half the files (unsupported), but Premiere Elements 4 handled them nicely. The worse part is not the video quality but the camera handling…jerky with many foot shots. I am sure they lost a lot of good shots being out of sync with the record button.
