  • Windows Media file conversion HELP!!!

Posted by Tom Brand on November 30, 2007 at 7:20 pm

I’m working on a video project and the organization we raise funds for has an 8 1/2 minute video I’d like to include. Unfortunately, it’s on a CD that has a menu system and only plays the file (within their operating window) through Windows Media Player.
    1) Is there a way to capture from WMP?
    2) Can one of the files (I think they’re a .dav file) be converted to an .mpg or .avi?

The quality is there…it’s just in the wrong format and the company that put it together for them wants to charge them more to put it into a usable (by someone else) format.

Thanks for your help and input.

Right click on the CD/DVD and choose explore. Copy the WMV file to your project folder and import it to Premiere.

Actually, there’s no .wmv file…otherwise I would have just done it that way.

I ended up changing the .dav file extension to .mpg and it opened in premiere.
