Video Window within a Video Window
I’m not sure if I’ve put it correctly. I would like to create a primary window of video, with sign language interpretation folks superimposed within a smaller window and sync the two. Two separate video streams. I don’t think the sync’ing will be a problem. I’m not sure how you do it. I’m using PPro CS3.
Your collective wisdom appreciated….

Place the overlaying (super) footage on a video track above the underlying one. Goto the Motion effect in the effect controls with the super layer selected. Resize it and position it. That’s it.
You can move the video layer with the mouse by selecting the clip, click on the program monitor. You should get a wireframe/bounding box. grab the corner to resize drag the clip around to set a new position.
Keep inside title safe zones for it.

Couple of things and hope you are able to advise me a bit more.
This box containing Sign Language Interpreters, will continue for most of the 59 minutes of the production.
However, in some of the close-up scenes I want to move the box to the opposite side or I might want to move it to a bottom side.
How does it work: At the point location in the timeline, by the current-time indicator – Can I move the inset frame such that the previous location is maintained (upper right), but in the next frame move it, say, to the opposite side or to the right hand bottom portion of the frame? And then, perhaps, move back to the previous location? I’m not very familiar with motion tracks.
How easy is it to put a border around the “box”?

1. Cut the clip where you want to have it in a different position, scale, whatever.
2. change the motion settings of that cut clip
3. repeat every time you want the pic in a different spot.
4. making a border…
not at workstation at the moment give me bit.
i’d probably look in the effects… generate or render… I mix up my AE and PPro effect names some times.

Hi Jon,
First thanks so much for your help….Had another thought, I’d like to put a colour matte behind the two frames of video, rather than sit just on black. Does it have to be placed in Video 1 so it is behind the two frames. In some still design programmes, you can send a pic to the back, but I don’t find that here.
But working with resizing the frames has been just fine, and I got some advice from the folks at Gallaudet University about the sizing of the ASL interpreters frame. (Gallaudet is the only University for Deaf people, I believe.)

Hey Bill,
There is no shortcut to send video layers to the bottom, but yes placing a clip/matte/image under a video track will act like PShop under the layer above it. Keying will use this process to show something underneath it.
