Adobe Premiere Elements memory problem
I’m using Premiere Elements 4 (just because I like it’s interface more the Premiere Pro’s)and I’ve been working on a project for two weeks, now, just when I finished it, I started getting a memory leak with Premiere (the memory used by the program keeps growing and growing until it crashes).
At the beginning the program would just close itself with no error, after a re-install I got an “not enough memory” error when trying to render, and now I’m getting an error from windows asking me if I want to report it (and the program crashes).
It happens in all of my projects, and also if I create a new one .
I tried reinstalling, repairing, restoring my windows setup to a previous date, and nothing worked.. I’m clueless..I’m using a new computer, with an Intel Q6600 Processor and 2GB of RAM.
Any ideas how to solve this? I really love using Premiere Elements and I really need that project.

I just went through the same problem. My machine got the same error message, and it seemed to spread to all programs. We copied the hard drive, cleaned it off, and reinstalled. Same problem.
My tech said one of my memory sticks went bad, and this solved the problem for me. No error messages now.

If you manually configure virtual memory in Windows XP this problem will go away. Virtual memory resides on your hard drive. Windows XP uses virtual memory like system memory.
How to configure memory is best described in the book by Keith Underdahl, 50 Fast Windows XP Techniques. It’s not something to be covered here because many different steps are involved, however the process is easy to accomplish.Tim Healy
