  • good volume setting?

    hey guys,

    curious question,

what’s a good point to balance the volume? i remember a while back i tried maxing everything out thinking that’s a good volume and when i burned it on dvd i had to immediately put the volume like on “4” to hear it normal when everything else on the TV sounded normal on like “10”

so on the audio mixer, where should I more or less keep it stable?

    thanks in advance,

    Vin.

For digital video (DV) the audio meters should peak between -3 and -6 db. For analog audio you can go a bit higher, but keep everything short of the RED.

Traditionally, audio for TV had a max of -1.5db, and for
film -6db. Some say that this information is now obsolete
due to the number of home-cinema systems out there with
expensive speakers, but I personally still ‘hard limit’
(using Audition, e.g.) my final audio mix to these
levels, regardless of definition and/or speaker set-up.
Your broadcaster will appreciate it, trust me.

    Darren.
