Recording a narrative directly into Premiere
Hi All,
I have been editing video together in Premiere Pro but am having difficulty adding narrative dialogue. I want to simply record my voice whilst watching the video. I have a Logitech USB headset that Windows (XP Pro, SP2) recognises in device manager and if I use the simple Windows sound recorder the mic works fine.
However when I try to select it in Premiere I get problems. I open audio hardware in project preferences and choose the Logitech, all looks fine. Then when I enable a track for recording in the audio mixer (by clicking the mic icon) the dropdown box directly above this, which should display the logitech device information, contains (for want of a better term) ‘gobbledegook’ characters and the mic does not work.
To get around this I have been switching to my old analogue mic, plugged in to the soundcard via 3.5mm jack. This works with Premiere but the sound quality is poor and levels are very low.
Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong please? Perhaps the Logitech USB headset is not compatible with Premiere? Has anyone any recommendations for a mic that will work with Premiere and give good quality recordings without breaking the bank?
Any help will be gratefully received!
