I’m trying to get HDV to work with Premiere Pro CS3 with a Sony HVR-M15u deck. I can capture and playback on the laptop, but cannot get the video from the timeline back out through the firewire port to see it on a monitor. I can output a DVI to HDMI signal to the monitor, but the video is jerky, but could be used as a basic reference, but I really need the to see it through the HDV deck for somewhat accurate monitoring. Please Help…

What are the specs of your laptop, playing back the timeline is different than just decoding a video file to play through your video card, I don’t believe the M15 has firewire passthrough for HDV.

HDV output over firewire is not possible, as it is with DV. You need a dedicated card like the Blackmagic Intensity or higher end cards from Blackmagic or AJA to achieve that.
