When I go to export a wmv from Premiere Pro CS3 I get a “writer not found” error. I have repaired Premiere and reinstalled it multiple times, removed all other video related programs, including anything related to Nero and am still getting this error. I have called into Adobe support and even they are having trouble figuring it out. Has anybody else had this much trouble with Premiere?

Real obvious question, but i have to ask: are you using Adobe Media Encoder to export, or simply using export>movie?

Adobe media encoder always works fine for me.

Also, is this the first time you’ve tried to export as wmv, or has it worked before? And are you running Vista or XP?

    All excellent questions!

Yes, I am using Adobe Media Encoder. This was the first time exporting to wmv. It hasn’t ever worked since I got the program. And I am running Vista.

I am experiencing the same problem with the media encoder. I have the Production Suite CS4 on a dual xeon 3.2GB system with 16GB ram. When exporting a WMV file through the adobe media encoder, an error message “writer not found” stops the export. Every other type of export (Mpeg, AVI, FLV, etc) works fine. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Harry
